The GKI is the only index that measures knowledge on the global level, it highlights the strategic role of knowledge and the importance of developing objective and scientific tools to measure and evaluate it. It was first released during the Knowledge Summit in December 2017.
The upcoming Knowledge Summit bearing the theme ‘Knowledge: The Path to Sustainable Development’ is expected to host more than 5,000 participants and 400 speakers, during which the results of the 2019 edition of the Future of Knowledge Foresight Report, which expanded its coverage to reach 40 countries, and the Global Knowledge Index 2019 results and the performance of 134+ countries will be presented.
UNDP and MBRF had built a remarkable partnership throughout the past decade, sharing a vision of promoting and strengthening knowledge-based sustainable development in the Arab region and beyond. In September 2019, UNDP and MBRF renewed this decade-long partnership and signed a new 10-year agreement (2021-2030) to harness the power of knowledge for development.
