Mohamed Ismail
Mohamed Ismail is the Chairman of the Statistics Department at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science and a teaching professor at Cairo University. He is a member of both the statistical studies permanent scientific committee for promoting academic staff and the International Statistical Institute.
Ismail served as a consultant to a wide range of organizations and institutions, including the Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Cabinet and Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
His research interests lie primarily on constructing composite indicators, time series, and dynamic modeling in general, with emphasis on Bayesian methodology, multiple seasonality, applied econometrics, and applications of statistics in the social sciences. Ismail has authored and published over 60 papers and technical reports on these topics, delivered sessions and talked in several scientific conferences, all in parallel with teaching more than 20 tutorials and short courses.
Ismail earned his PhD in Statistics in 1994 from Wales University in UK, and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Statistics from Cairo University.
