Brahima Sanou
Brahima Sanou is the Founder and CEO of BSANOU Consulting. He is a former Elected Official of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and a former Director of the ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) elected in 2010 and unanimously re-elected in 2014.
A national of Burkina Faso, he has more than 35 years of experience in the telecommunications/ICT sector, having served as the ITU Regional Director for Africa and Representative to the African Union Commission and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) for more than 10 years.
As Director of BDT, he spearheaded collaborative approaches with other United Nations agencies such as UNESCO, WHO, FAO, and the World Bank, with the view to streamlining ICTs to accelerate the attainment of the SDGs in agriculture, health, education, gender, trading, infrastructure, environment and climate change.
He also directed and supervised the data collection and the yearly release of the ICT Development Index (IDI) by ITU.
