Khalid Wazani is currently the Chairman of Jordan Investment Commission (JIC). From 2015 to 2019 he served as the Strategy and Knowledge Advisor for Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in Dubai.
He peviously held several positions in the private sector, the most recent being the Chief Economist/ Strategist of Issnaad Consulting. In earlier years, he occupied the positions of General Manager and CEO of Saraya Aqaba Real Estate, Taameer Jordan Holdings (PLC) and Darat Jordan Holdings (PLC) as General Manager and CEO between 2006 and 2011.
Wazani has served in the government of Jordan as Director General of Customs Department, Advisor at the Royal Court, Director of Economic and Development Division at the Royal Court, and Managing Director of the Social Security Corporation, between 1999-2006.
He was appointed as an assistant and then Associate professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at The Hashemite University where he also served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics.
Wazani has authored many publications, including academic books, research papers, and editorials.
He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Cairo, his master’s in economics from the American University of Cairo, and his bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Cairo. He is the recipient of several awards, among them, Shoman Award for Arab Researchers (1998), Fulbright Scholarship from the United States (1997), and Salzburg Scholarship from Austria (1996).
